David A. Liebelt, M.D., Ph.D. specializes in knee and hip reconstruction and is dedicated to getting his patients back to doing the things they enjoy. With each patient encounter Dr. Liebelt seeks to first clearly understand the problem and then spend time educating the patient about the diagnosis, the prognosis, and the treatment options. This way an educated patient and Dr. Liebelt can make treatment decisions together.

Hip

Advanced degenerative joint disease of the hip can be the result of post-traumatic arthritis, osteoarthritis, or inflammatory arthritis. Replacement of all of the cartilage in the hip to treat advanced degenerative joint disease of the hip is called total hip replacement.

Conversion of a previous hip surgery to a total hip arthroplasty is called conversion hip arthroplasty. Previous hip surgeries include pediatric hip surgery or previous hip or pelvic fracture treatment.

Evaluation and treatment of failed total hip arthroplasties, including revision hip arthroplasty.

Knee

Knee Arthroscopy is surgery of the knee to treat degenerative meniscal tears, osteochondral lesions, intra-articular loose bodies, and acute knee infections.

Partial Knee Arthroplasty is replacement of the cartilage in a single compartment of the knee to treat isolated patellofemoral, medial, or lateral osteoarthritis.

Total Knee Arthroplasty is replacement of all of the cartilage in the knee to treat tri-compartmental degenerative joint disease of the knee. Advanced tri-compartmental degenerative joint disease of the knee can be the result of post-traumatic arthritis, osteoarthritis, or inflammatory arthritis.

Evaluation and treatment of failed partial or total knee arthroplasties, including revision knee arthroplasty.

Trauma

Lower extremity orthopaedic trauma including hip fractures, femur fractures, tibia fractures, ankle fractures, and peri-prosthetic hip fractures. Bone health and Vitamin D and Calcium metabolism.
